Bengaluru Grey Line Metro: Double-Decker Design Causes Delays, Soaring Costs

• Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is preparing to invite tenders for the 12.15 km Grey Line Metro (Hosahalli–Kadabagere).
• The Grey Line will feature a double-decker design, combining an existing road, a flyover, and the metro line.
• Construction is projected to begin in June 2026 and take approximately 5.5 years to complete.
• The project's double-decker design is expected to slow construction and significantly increase costs, estimated at Rs 15,611 crore for the metro and Rs 9,700 crore for the flyover.
