Indian Railways Revives Historic Timber Route Through Kali Tiger Reserve with DEMU Train
•Indian Railways launches a new DEMU train service connecting Alnavar Junction and Dandeli, reviving a historic timber route.
•The route passes through the scenic Kali Tiger Reserve, offering passengers views of thick forests, the Kali River, and potential wildlife sightings.
•Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V. Muraleedharan, will inaugurate the service and Dandeli Railway Station on February 7, 2026.
•Regular services will commence from February 9, 2026, operating six days a week (except Sundays) with four DEMU coaches.
•This service is expected to boost tourism, improve local connectivity for students and daily commuters, and highlights the route's historical significance dating back to 1918.
