Indian Railways Revives Historic Timber Route Through Kali Tiger Reserve with DEMU Train

• Indian Railways launches a new DEMU train service connecting Alnavar Junction and Dandeli, reviving a historic timber route.
• The route passes through the scenic Kali Tiger Reserve, offering passengers views of thick forests, the Kali River, and potential wildlife sightings.
• Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V. Muraleedharan, will inaugurate the service and Dandeli Railway Station on February 7, 2026.
• Regular services will commence from February 9, 2026, operating six days a week (except Sundays) with four DEMU coaches.
• This service is expected to boost tourism, improve local connectivity for students and daily commuters, and highlights the route's historical significance dating back to 1918.
