Noida Techie Crash: Water-Filled Pit Visible in Satellite Images Since 2021

  • A 27-year-old software engineer, Yuvraj Mehta, drowned in a water-filled pit in Noida's Sector 150 after his car crashed on January 17.
  • Satellite images from Google Earth show the large water body at the accident site has been present since late 2021, remaining unsecured for over three years.
  • Another truck driver, Gurvinder Singh, had a similar accident at the same location on January 2, alleging negligence by authorities for lack of barricades and warning signs.
  • The pit is on Plot A-3 of Sports City's Plot No. 2, which was taken over by MZ Wiztown Planners in 2021; their revised commercial building plan was rejected in May 2022.
  • Police arrested Abhay Kumar, director of MZ Wiztown, following a complaint by Mehta's father, with an FIR lodged under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
