Shai Hope Joins Elite Club: 4th Captain with Back-to-Back T20 World Cup Fifties

  • West Indies captain Shai Hope scored 75 runs against Italy, marking his second consecutive T20 World Cup fifty.
  • Hope joins Rohit Sharma, Babar Azam, and Shoaib Malik in an elite list of captains with back-to-back T20 World Cup half-centuries.
  • His previous fifty was 61 runs against Nepal in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
  • Shoaib Malik was the first to achieve this feat in 2007, followed by Babar Azam in 2021 (who scored three in a row).
  • Rohit Sharma also achieved back-to-back fifties in the 2024 edition against Australia and England.
