Government Buys ₹75,505 Cr G-Secs from RBI in Switch Auction
- •Government of India repurchased ₹75,504.43 crore in G-secs from RBI via a switch auction on February 12.
- •Bonds worth ₹69,436.15 crore were issued in exchange for the repurchased securities.
- •The repurchased securities were scheduled to mature in the next financial year, including 7.27% GS 2026, 8.33% GS 2026, 8.15% GS 2026, and 8.24% GS 2027.
- •The switch operation aims to ease redemption pressure in the next financial year, when ₹5.47 lakh crore in government bond maturities are due.
- •This move helps manage repayment obligations and smoothen the maturity profile, especially with gross market borrowing budgeted at ₹17.2 lakh crore.
