New Electricity Rules: Cheaper Day, Costlier Evening Power from Tomorrow

• New Time of Day (ToD) tariff implemented for smart meter users in Bihar starting April 1st.
• Electricity rates will vary: cheaper during the day, more expensive during evening peak hours.
• Consumers get up to 20% discount from 9 AM to 5 PM (off-peak hours).
• 10% additional charge during peak hours (5 PM to 11 PM); normal rates from 11 PM to 9 AM.
• Approximately 8.7 million smart prepaid meter consumers in Bihar will be affected by these rules.
