PSBs' Profit to Exceed ₹2 Lakh Crore in FY26, Deposits Up 10%

• Public Sector Banks (PSBs) are projected to collectively surpass ₹2 lakh crore in profit in FY26, as stated by Financial Services Secretary M Nagaraju.
• PSBs have shown robust health with a 12% credit growth and a 10% increase in deposits this year.
• Total profit of PSBs is expected to double in 3 years, reaching ₹1.78 lakh crore in FY25 and projected to cross ₹2 lakh crore in FY26.
• Gross Non-Performing Assets (NPA) hit a record low of 2.30% by September 2025, with Net NPA at 3%.
• The Finance Ministry is considering increasing the FDI limit in public sector banks from 20% to 49%, with inter-ministerial consultations underway.
