RBI Injects ₹48,014 Crore into Banking System via 7-Day VRR Auction
•The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) injected ₹48,014 crore in transient liquidity into the banking system through a seven-day variable rate repo (VRR) auction.
•Funds were infused at a cut-off rate and weighted average rate of 5.26%.
•The injected liquidity was significantly lower than the notified amount of ₹1.50 lakh crore, despite a sharp drop in surplus liquidity due to advance tax payments.
•Liquidity in the banking system is expected to tighten further after GST payments later this week.
•RBI has infused ₹3.50 lakh crore of durable liquidity through open market purchase (OMO) of government securities since January 2026.
