Former UGC Chief M Jagadesh Kumar Appointed IIM Calcutta BoG Chairperson

•M Jagadesh Kumar, former UGC Chairman, appointed Chairperson of IIM Calcutta's Board of Governors (BoG).
•President Droupadi Murmu approved the appointment for a four-year term or until age seventy, whichever is earlier.
•Kumar previously served as UGC Chairman (Feb 2022-Apr 2025) and JNU Vice-Chancellor (2016-2022).
•At UGC, he implemented CUET, promoted digital learning platforms like SWAYAM, and supported NEP 2020 initiatives.
•He also introduced the Professor of Practice scheme and facilitated foreign university campuses in India.
