UPSC 2026: IAS, IFS Officers Barred from Reappearing; New Rules Tighten Exam Attempts
- •UPSC has released the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 notification with significant changes to attempt rules.
- •Serving IAS, IFS, and other Group 'A' officers are now ineligible to reappear for CSE 2026 while employed.
- •IPS officers can reattempt but cannot opt for or be assigned to IPS again based on 2026 results.
- •A one-time reattempt rule allows candidates from CSE 2026 or earlier to retake CSE 2027 to improve rank/service, with conditions on training exemption.
- •Candidates selected before 2026 get one chance for 2026 or 2027 exam without resigning, but must resign for attempts after 2027.
