  • UPSC has released the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 notification with significant changes to attempt rules.
  • Serving IAS, IFS, and other Group 'A' officers are now ineligible to reappear for CSE 2026 while employed.
  • IPS officers can reattempt but cannot opt for or be assigned to IPS again based on 2026 results.
  • A one-time reattempt rule allows candidates from CSE 2026 or earlier to retake CSE 2027 to improve rank/service, with conditions on training exemption.
  • Candidates selected before 2026 get one chance for 2026 or 2027 exam without resigning, but must resign for attempts after 2027.
