• Assam BJP removed a social media co-convener after an AI video showed CM Himanta Biswa Sarma aiming a rifle at men, one resembling Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi.
• The video, captioned “Point blank shot,” was posted on Assam BJP’s official X handle last Saturday and deleted the next day.
• Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia called the post “immature” and “unauthorised,” stating the party doesn't support targeting Muslims with bullets.
• CM Himanta Biswa Sarma denied knowledge of the video, clarifying the party is against “Bangladeshi Muslims” (Miya Muslims), not “Assamese Muslims.”
• This is the second controversy for Assam BJP’s X handle, following an AI video in September 2025 about “Assam without BJP” that led to a Supreme Court notice.
