• Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Moran Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) in Dibrugarh, emphasizing its strategic security for the Northeast.
• Sarma countered opposition criticism by invoking Nehru's 1962 statement and asserting a new resolve: "We will defeat enemies from the soil of Assam."
• The ELF, a first in Northeast India, is a dual-use infrastructure designed with the Indian Air Force for military and civilian aircraft during emergencies.
• It can handle fighter aircraft up to 40 tonnes and transport aircraft up to 74 tonnes, crucial for disaster response and strategic needs.
• CM also highlighted the approved Rs 18,500-crore underwater rail-cum-road tunnel under Brahmaputra, enhancing connectivity and security.
