Census 2027: Self-Enumeration Live in April, What It Means For You
•For the first time, Indian citizens can submit household data online for Census 2027, starting April 2026.
•Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched four digital tools, including a self-enumeration portal, for the world's largest digital census.
•Self-enumeration allows citizens to fill details online, receive a unique ID, and have enumerators verify it later.
•The process aims for a more accurate, inclusive, and tamper-proof 16th national census, the eighth since Independence.
•The census will run in two phases: Houselisting (April-Sept 2026) and Population Enumeration (Feb 2027), with caste data collected for the first time.
