Delhi Launches First Water Master Plan: Private Firms to Tackle Supply, Fix Pipes

Delhi government introduces its first 'Water Master Plan' to enhance water supply and repair aging infrastructure across the city.

Private companies will be engaged to manage pipeline repairs, upgrades, efficient distribution, and revenue collection in designated zones.
•
The plan aims to bridge the gap between current water production (900-1000 MGD) and the city's demand (1200 MGD) by assessing future needs.
•
Delhi Jal Board (DJB) operations will be decentralized, with private firms taking charge of eight Command Centres for comprehensive water management.
•
Work has already commenced at the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant command centre, with tenders for other zones expected soon.
