IGI Airport deploys AI, CAT III tech for smoother winter fog flights
- •IGI Airport is integrating AI, predictive analytics, and enhanced runway facilities to mitigate the impact of fog on flight operations this winter.
- •The Airport Predictive Operations Center (APOC) will use real-time data and weather models for faster decision-making and resource deployment.
- •CAT III Instrument Landing Systems have been installed, making three runways (10/28, 11L/29R, 11R/29L) CAT-III compliant on both ends for safe landings in dense fog.
- •These upgrades will allow approximately 30 landings per hour in low visibility and are expected to reduce fog-related delay recovery time by about 4 hours.
- •Delhi Airport will also utilize Winter Fog Experiment (WiFEX) data, which claims up to 85% accuracy, for advanced fog prediction models.
Why It Matters: IGI's AI and tech upgrades promise smoother, safer flights during foggy conditions.
