India to Boost Air Defence: More S-400 Missiles Approved by DAC

  • India's Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approved the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for additional S-400 missiles from Russia.
  • These new missiles are intended to augment existing S-400 batteries, with two squadrons still awaiting delivery.
  • The DAC, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, cleared proposals worth approximately Rs 3.60 lakh crore, including Rafale jets and other combat systems.
  • The S-400 system, known as 'Sudarshan Chakra', successfully intercepted Pakistani drones and missiles during Operation Sindoor.
  • Developed by Russia’s Almaz-Antey, the S-400 is a highly advanced air defence system capable of engaging multiple threats up to 400 km away and integrating with India's armed forces.
