India to Boost Air Defence: More S-400 Missiles Approved by DAC
- •India's Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approved the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for additional S-400 missiles from Russia.
- •These new missiles are intended to augment existing S-400 batteries, with two squadrons still awaiting delivery.
- •The DAC, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, cleared proposals worth approximately Rs 3.60 lakh crore, including Rafale jets and other combat systems.
- •The S-400 system, known as 'Sudarshan Chakra', successfully intercepted Pakistani drones and missiles during Operation Sindoor.
- •Developed by Russia’s Almaz-Antey, the S-400 is a highly advanced air defence system capable of engaging multiple threats up to 400 km away and integrating with India's armed forces.
