North India Braces for Intense Cold Wave as Mercury Plummets

  • An intense cold wave is set to grip North India from today, with temperatures dropping to single digits.
  • States like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi will experience widespread cold wave conditions.
  • Delhi recorded its first cold day, with maximum temperatures between 4.5 and 6.4 degrees Celsius in some areas.
  • Dense to very dense fog is expected in parts of Punjab and Haryana between January 7-9.
  • Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) has worsened to 'very poor' (310), with Mundka recording 369.
