Jaish Terrorists Trapped in Kishtwar Encounter; Follows Recent Anti-Terror Operations

  • A fresh encounter erupted in Singhpora, Kishtwar, as security forces engaged terrorists who had previously evaded capture on January 18 and 22.
  • The Indian Army and Kishtwar's SOG have reportedly trapped two to three militants, all believed to be from the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit.
  • This operation follows the killing of a Pakistani JeM terrorist in Kathua district on Friday, based on specific intelligence.
  • The neutralized terrorist in Kathua was identified as JeM commander Usman, a Pakistani national, from whom an M4 automatic rifle and other arms were recovered.
  • The Rising Star Corps and J&K Police conducted a joint operation in Parhetar, Kathua, on January 23.
