Jaishankar, Iran FM Araghchi Discuss West Asia Crisis; India Tackles Energy Impact
•External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi held their third call on the West Asia conflict, agreeing to stay in close contact.
•India maintains diplomatic engagement with regional players since hostilities began on February 28, driven by concerns for peace, Indian nationals' safety, and energy security.
•The conflict has disrupted energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz, causing supply anxieties and commercial LPG shortages in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
•India is mitigating the impact by running refineries at full capacity and sourcing 70% of crude from outside the Hormuz route, including Russia, the United States, and West Africa.
•Domestic LPG production increased by 10%, and a 3-member committee was formed to address grievances from commercial LPG users.
