Jharkhand Workers Abducted in Niger Return Home After 8 Months
- •Five workers from Jharkhand, abducted by militants in Niger in April 2025, have been safely released and returned to India.
- •Their return was a result of sustained coordination between the Jharkhand government, MEA, Indian Embassy in Niamey, and their employer, Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited (KPTL).
- •The workers, all from Bagodar in Giridih district, were kidnapped during a militant attack near a KPTL project site.
- •During their captivity, the Jharkhand government provided social security support to their families, and KPTL continued their salaries.
- •Currently in Mumbai for health checks and formalities, they are expected to return home on January 14.
