West Bengal: EC Begins Major Voter Verification Hearings from Thursday

  • The Election Commission (EC) will start issuing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearing notices in West Bengal from Thursday, December 18.
  • Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will initially target approximately 3.2 million unmapped voters.
  • These unmapped voters are those whose details couldn't be linked with 2002 SIR data but appear in the 2026 draft electoral rolls.
  • Voters will receive two copies of the notice and must keep 11 specified documents ready for verification at government offices.
  • Special Roll Observer Subrata Gupta is scheduled to visit north Bengal to review the SIR work and progress.
