•A 35-year-old son, Santosh Ganpat Diwale, brutally attacked his 70-year-old mother, Sunitabai, with a stone pestle in Dhawanewadi, Lanja taluka, Ratnagiri.
•The shocking incident occurred after Sunitabai merely asked her son to grind spices for a prawn meal he desired.
•After hitting her, Santosh also attempted to strangle his mother with his shirt, leaving her in a pool of blood.
•Sunitabai is currently in critical condition, fighting for her life at the District Government Hospital.
•Lanja police have registered a case against Santosh Diwale, and further investigation is underway.
