Governor Appoints Vivek Bhimanwar as MPSC Chairman Amidst Elections

• Governor Acharya Devvrat appointed Vivek Laxmikant Bhimanwar (IAS) as the Chairman of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) during ongoing municipal elections.
• Bhimanwar, a 2009 batch IAS officer, will serve for six years or until he turns 62, as per Article 316 (1) of the Indian Constitution.
• He is currently the Transport Commissioner of Maharashtra, known for implementing key projects and taking strict action against illegal bike taxis in Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
• His past roles include Chief Executive Officer of Thane district and Collector of Wardha district, with experience also in the Income Tax Department.
• Dr. Abhay Eknath Wagh holds additional charge as Chairman until Bhimanwar assumes office, under Article 316 (1-A).
