Maharashtra: 20 Zilla Parishad Elections Postponed, 12 to Proceed

• Elections for 20 Zilla Parishads and 88 Panchayat Samitis in Maharashtra are postponed.
• The postponement is due to the Supreme Court's 50% reservation limit, with a ruling expected on January 21.
• Postponed ZPs include Thane, Palghar, Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Hingoli, Nanded, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Buldhana, Yavatmal, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Ahmednagar, Jalna, and Beed.
• Elections for 12 ZPs and 125 Panchayat Samitis will proceed, including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Dharashiv, and Latur.
• Nagpur and Chandrapur Municipal Corporations are exceptions; their elections can proceed with increased reservation, and all Municipal Corporation elections will be held together.
