Yavatmal's 'Simran' Dupes Nashik Youth of Lakhs in Marriage Scam; 5 Arrested

• A young woman from Yavatmal, Simran Gautam Patil, defrauded a Nashik youth, Avinash Changdev Kawade, of lakhs of rupees under the pretext of marriage.
• Kawade was introduced to Simran through an intermediary for an arranged marriage, with Simran's family citing poor financial conditions to demand wedding expenses.
• On February 10, 2026, Simran and her family extorted two lakh fifty thousand rupees from Kawade before the marriage was finalized.
• After receiving the money, Simran, her mother, and brother fled, pretending to get 'poha,' while their accomplices also disappeared, and all phones were switched off.
• Kawade filed a complaint at Ghatanji Police Station, leading to the arrest of Simran, her mother Asha Patil, brother Karan Patil, and associates Sunil Rathod and Manik Pawar.
