Dow Jumps 250+ Points as Oil Retreats; S&P 500 Eyes Third Weekly Loss

US stocks opened higher Friday; Dow Jones surged 261 points (0.6%), S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite gained 0.5%.

S&P 500 is set for its third consecutive weekly decline, down 0.3%; Dow tracking 1.1% weekly fall.

Oil prices retreated: West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude slipped 1% to $94, Brent eased 0.5% to $99 after crossing $100 on Thursday.

Concerns over Iran conflict and Strait of Hormuz closure eased slightly after US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth downplayed worries.
