SEBI Unveils SWAGAT-FI: Single License, Longer Validity for Trusted FPIs

• SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey announced the SWAGAT-FI framework to simplify market entry for trusted FPIs.
• SWAGAT-FI offers a single license and extended validity for Financial Institutions (FIs) like sovereign funds, publicly traded funds, and insurance funds.
• The framework allows these FIs to conduct multiple activities with a single license and benefit from a much longer registration period.
• This initiative aims to ease registration and compliance for foreign portfolio investors, following its formal rollout last month.
• Pandey also highlighted steps to deepen the corporate bond market, including electronic bidding platforms and online bond trading for retail investors.
