Coal India Boosts Investments: ₹3,190 Cr in BCGCL, ₹3,133 Cr in DVC JV for Energy Security
- •Coal India Ltd (CIL) approved a ₹3,189.54 crore equity investment in Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL) for ammonium nitrate production.
- •The BCGCL project, with a 0.66 MTPA capacity, aims to fulfill CIL's explosives needs and reduce import reliance, with a 48-month implementation period.
- •CIL holds 51% equity in BCGCL, while BHEL holds 49%; BCGCL was incorporated on May 21, 2024.
- •CIL's board also approved a ₹3,132.96 crore equity infusion into a proposed joint venture with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC).
- •The CIL-DVC JV, with a total project cost of ₹20,886.40 crore, will focus on thermal and renewable power projects to enhance energy security, with CIL and DVC holding 50% equity each.
