IRCON faces ₹109-crore VAT demand after Patna HC dismisses plea in Ganga bridge case

IRCON International Ltd received a judgment from the Patna High Court dismissing its plea regarding VAT assessments for the Ganga bridge project.
•
The VAT assessments for 2010-11 to 2016-17 resulted in a demand of ₹108.75 crore, now a contingent liability.
•
IRCON had challenged the assessment orders and secured a stay on recovery, but the High Court upheld the demand.
•
Of the total demand, IRCON has already deposited ₹27.39 crore, with a net outstanding of ₹81.36 crore plus interest.
•
The company is reviewing the order and plans to appeal to a higher court.
