Titagarh Rail, ABB India Partner for Driverless Metro Propulsion, Tech Transfer
- •Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL) and ABB India Ltd announced a partnership to develop propulsion systems for 25kV driverless metro projects in India.
- •The agreement includes ABB India supporting design, manufacturing, supply, testing, and commissioning of propulsion systems, along with technology transfer for Train Control and Monitoring System (TCMS) for 25 kV AC metro applications.
- •The TCMS will operate at GoA2 and be upgradable to GoA4 standards, with gradual transfer of manufacturing and co-production of converters and traction motors for MMRDA projects.
- •Titagarh had previously secured a contract to deliver 240 metro coaches for MMRDA's Line 5 (Kapurbawadi–Kalyan APMC) and Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar–Vikhroli (EEH)).
- •This partnership aligns with Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, enhancing Titagarh's indigenous manufacturing capabilities and local content in metro projects.
Why It Matters: Titagarh Rail and ABB India collaborate to indigenize driverless metro propulsion systems and TCMS technology.
