Govt: DA & Pension Not Stopped; 8th Pay Commission Approved

• Government debunked a viral message claiming withdrawal of DA and pension benefits for retired employees as fake.
• An amendment to CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021, Rule 37, allows forfeiture of pension for employees dismissed for misconduct after joining a PSU; it does not affect general DA or pay commission benefits.
• The 8th Pay Commission's Terms of Reference were approved on November 3, 2025, to recommend on pay, pension, and allowances for central government employees and retirees.
• There is currently no proposal to merge Dearness Allowance (DA) with basic pay.
