BAFTA Apologizes to Michael B. Jordan for Offensive Slur Incident
•BAFTA issued a formal apology to Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo after an offensive slur was heard during the BAFTA Film Awards.
•The incident involved Tourette’s syndrome campaigner John Davidson, who involuntarily uttered the N-word while Jordan and Lindo were presenting an award.
•BAFTA took “full responsibility” for the “very difficult situation” and praised Jordan and Lindo’s “incredible dignity and professionalism.”
•Attendees were informed beforehand about Davidson’s Tourette syndrome, which can cause uncontrollable verbal tics.
•The BBC also apologized for including the slur in its tape-delayed broadcast and removed the program from iPlayer.
