He died on March 3 in Austin, days after a fall at his home, confirmed by his daughter Melody Hinkle.

Hinkle was a dialogue coach for films like "Giant" (1956) and "Hud" (1963), working with stars like James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor.
•
His career spanned acting, stunt work, writing, directing, and producing, including country music content.
•
A former rodeo competitor and U.S. Air Force veteran, Hinkle's ashes will be laid to rest in Brownfield, Texas.
