MPCB shuts 19 RMC plants in MMR amid pollution crackdown

• Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) shut down 19 Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) plants in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
• The action was taken to control increasing air pollution in Mumbai and against industries violating Air Pollution Control Rules.
• Closures include 4 RMC plants in Deonar-Govandi (bank guarantees seized), 8 in Thane, 6 in Navi Mumbai, and 1 in Kalyan.
• MPCB also ordered the removal of 3 unauthorized metal processing furnaces in Sion and instructed Mumbai Port Trust regarding garbage burning.
