Trusted Jeweler Absconds with 1 Crore Mortgaged Gold, Cash in Navi Mumbai

• A Koparkhairane jeweler, Rupesh Gurjar, fled with 988 grams of mortgaged gold and 3 lakh rupees cash, defrauding numerous customers.
• Gurjar, operating 'Mahalaxmi Jewelers' for 15 years, disappeared with his associate Suresh, leaving many families in financial distress.
• Customers became suspicious when Gurjar's phone was unreachable and his shop was found closed since January 22.
• Complainant Amit Fulchand Chauhan reported mortgaging jewelry for an 8 lakh loan, which he repaid, but his gold was not returned.
• 28 complainants have come forward, with the total value of the stolen gold estimated at 1.5 crore rupees; police anticipate more victims.
