• Farmers often face pest damage to mango crops despite spraying, especially from fruit-sucking pests that cause blossoms and young fruits (tikora) to fall.
• Dr. C.P.N. Gautam, Senior Scientist at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, suggests wrapping black or white polythene tightly around tree trunks.
• This causes pests to slip and fall, allowing them to be easily destroyed with detergent, preventing damage to blossoms and tikora.
• After fruits appear, soak jute sacks in a mixture of 10 ml Malathion 50% EC (or similar) and jaggery syrup (50g jaggery/liter water).
• Place these soaked sacks on the tree to trap and destroy sucking pests, or use readily available "Fruit Fly Traps" for better production and profits.
