• Chilli crops are highly susceptible to pests, with thrips posing the biggest threat from nursery to harvest.
• Shiv Shankar Verma, an expert from State Agricultural Center Shivgarh, Raebareli, warns farmers about this destructive pest.
• Thrips are 1-2 mm long, black, yellow, orange, or white-yellow, causing leaves to curl upwards like a boat and damaging flowers and fruits.
• To control, spray Admire Imidacloprid 70% WG or Spinosad 45% SC (75 ml in 200 liters water per acre).
• Severely infected plants should be removed and buried to prevent further spread.
