Jalore Farmers Get Relief: 85% Canal Repair Done, Water to Reach Fields by Monsoon

• Bandi-Sindhra dam, Jalore's largest, faced irrigation water shortage for farmers due to damaged canals and leakages over the past decade.
• Floods from 2015-2017 further damaged the main canal, minors, and sub-minors, impacting Rabi season irrigation and leading to deepening groundwater and increased soil salinity.
• 85% of the 17-kilometer main canal repair is complete, including 5 new box siphons, 10 cross drainages, and one aqueduct.
• Remaining repair work is expected to finish in two months, ensuring irrigation water reaches villages like Thoor, Bharudi, Mudtara Sili, Somta, Tavav, and Jodwara by monsoon.
