AP, Centre Partner for High-Speed Internet in Villages via Bharat Net
•
Andhra Pradesh and the Central government signed an MoU to expand digital services in rural areas through Bharat Net.
•
The Amended Bharat Net Project (ABP) aims to provide fiber connectivity to approximately five lakh rural households with high-speed internet.
•
The Central government sanctioned Rs. 2,432 crores for the project, with a special organization established for implementation.
•
The project will cover 13,426 Gram Panchayats, upgrading 1,692 in Phase-1 and providing full connectivity to 11,254 in Phase-2.
•
Broadband services will extend to 480 newly formed Gram Panchayats, strengthening digital governance, education, and telemedicine.
