Balirajgarh Excavation Approved: Unearthing 2000-Year-Old Mithila History

Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) grants approval for scientific excavation at Balirajgarh, Madhubani, Bihar.
•
The site, known as 'Raja Bali ka Garh', is expected to reveal ancient Mithila civilization and history.
•
JDU's Sanjay Kumar Jha played a key role in securing the approval, aiming to develop it as an international tourist destination.
•
Excavations will be led by Dr. Hari Om Sharan and could shed light on a 2000-year-old civilization, from Shunga-Kushan to Pala periods.
•
Previous findings include Northern Black Polished Ware, terracotta figurines, copper coins, and evidence of advanced urban planning.
