Bihar: 7 Ancient Idols Worth 68 Crores Released After 3 Years in Police Custody
- •Seven Ashtadhatu idols of Ram Darbar, stolen in 2023 from Buxar, were recovered and held in Koilwar Police Station's Malkhana for three years.
- •The idols, estimated to be 300 years old and valued at 68 crore rupees in the international market, were released after a 6 lakh rupee bail bond.
- •The theft occurred on January 21, 2023, from Ram Janaki Math in Barki Dhakaich, Buxar, and the idols were recovered the next day.
- •A thief was arrested with a country-made pistol in connection with the 2023 theft.
- •Earlier, in 2011, three idols were stolen from the same Math, and the priest was murdered; those idols were recovered in 2013.
