• Family alleged sexual assault and cover-up; post-mortem revealed injuries and signs of struggle, and forensic tests confirmed sperm traces on clothes.
• Hostel owner, an employee arrested, and two police officers suspended for negligence; SIT collected DNA from over 20 suspects.
• Bihar government recommended CBI probe on January 31, and CBI took over the case in early February.
