•CBI will now investigate the Patna NEET student death case under the POCSO Act, following a revised notification from the Bihar government.

•Initially, POCSO sections were not included in the FIR filed by Patna Police on January 9, 2026, nor in CBI's initial mandate.
•The court questioned the investigation's direction, prompting the state government to amend the notification due to the minor victim and sexual offense indications.
•The case involves a NEET student found unconscious at Shambhu Girls Hostel on January 6, 2026, who died on January 11. Family alleges rape and murder.
