Wild Elephant Dies of Electrocution in Aurangabad After Month-Long Havoc

A wild elephant, strayed from Jharkhand's Palamu forest, died in Aurangabad district, suspected to be from electrocution.
•
The elephant was found dead in the Meh area of Aurangabad after being in contact with an electric wire; post-mortem report awaited.
•
It was previously trapped in an Indrapuri Barrage gate in Rohtas, rescued, and then moved towards Aurangabad.
•
For 15-20 days, it caused terror in Rohtas villages, killing cattle and damaging crops and huts.
•
Questions are being raised about the Forest Department's failure to safely return the elephant to its natural habitat.
