Edible Oil Prices Soar: Sunflower, Palm Oil Cross ₹179 Amid West Asia Tensions
•
Edible oil prices, including sunflower and groundnut oil, increased by ₹1 to ₹4 per liter in the past week.
•
The surge is attributed to West Asia tensions driving crude oil prices up and a bullish global market trend.
•
Sunflower oil rose from ₹175 to ₹179 per kg, groundnut oil from ₹195 to ₹197, and palm oil from ₹135.5 to ₹138 per kg.
•
Soybean, vanaspati, and mustard oil also saw slight increases, as per Department of Consumer Affairs data.
•
India heavily relies on imports for 89-90% of its vegetable oil needs, making international price changes directly impact household budgets.
