SEBI Launches SWAGAT–FI to Simplify Foreign Investor Entry

• SEBI introduces SWAGAT–FI framework to streamline registration and compliance for foreign investors.
• The framework unifies registration processes for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) and Foreign Venture Capital Investors (FVCIs) across various investment routes.
• It aims to reduce regulatory burden by minimizing repeated compliance requirements and documentation.
• Both new and existing FPIs meeting eligibility criteria can benefit from SWAGAT–FI.
• Primary beneficiaries include central banks, sovereign wealth funds, mutual funds, insurance companies, and pension funds registered with SEBI. The provisions will be effective from June 1, 2026.
