Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: OHE Mast Installation Boosts Project Momentum

  • The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is making steady progress with the installation of Overhead Electrification (OHE) masts.
  • This development is crucial for enabling electric traction for India's first high-speed rail system, aligning with the 'Make in India' initiative.
  • Over 20,000 OHE masts, ranging from 9.5 to 14.5 meters, will be installed along the corridor to support the 2x25 kV overhead traction power system.
  • A network of Traction Substations (TSS) and Distribution Substations (DSS) is also being developed to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
  • The project aims to enhance connectivity, benefit local economies, create jobs, and advance India's rail technology and infrastructure.

Why It Matters: Installation of OHE masts marks a significant step towards electrifying India's first bullet train, boosting progress.
