Rural Development's Biggest Spending on Two Schemes, MGNREGA Left Behind

• New VB-G Ram Ji scheme replaces MGNREGA, receiving the largest share of rural development budget.
• VB-G Ram Ji allocated Rs 95,692 crore, approximately 40% of the Department of Rural Development's total budget.
• VB-G Ram Ji and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) together account for 63% of the budget.
• Ministry of Rural Development allocated Rs 1,97,023 crore for FY 2026-27, a 4% increase.
• Viksit Bharat G Ramji scheme guarantees 125 days of work, up from MGNREGA's 100 days, with easier weekly payments.
