Despite diminished eyesight from a childhood injury, he never considered it a weakness, impressing the UPSC board with honesty and confidence.

Son of an auto driver and homemaker, Ajay's journey includes an All India 8th rank in CBSE Class 12 and Post Graduation from St. Stephen's College.
•
This was his 5th attempt; he previously secured Rank 730 and joined the Indian Railway Management Service but pursued his IAS dream.

He chose Sociology as his optional, took coaching from LeadIAS Academy, and credits family support and determination for his success.
