India to Launch BSc Aircraft Maintenance: AME Education Reform to Boost Global MRO Hub Status

Central government reforms Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) education, introducing a BSc degree in Aircraft Engineering.
•
Three-year BSc course to begin as a pilot project from academic session 2026-27.
•
MOU signed between Gati Shakti University and DGCA for the new program.
•
Aims to meet domestic needs and establish India as a global Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) hub, creating jobs.
•
Syllabus to be prepared by Global Commission, Airbus, Safran, GMR School of Aviation, with ENAC France and HAL joining soon.
